SPECIAL EVENTS & ACCESSIBILITY

Raven Theatre is proud to host a variety of Special Events for every production in our season! These events range from community-focused and accessibility-focused, in efforts to cultivate relationships with our patrons, as well as enhance the overall experience for our patrons.

Mask-Required Performances

All patrons and staff members are required to wear a facemask inside the Johnson Stage (while not actively eating or drinking) at these performances. Please note that Raven Theatre has two performance spaces (Johnson Stage and Schwartz Stage). It is possible that there will be a mask-required performance happening in one space and a mask-optional performance happening in the other space on the same date. For this reason, patrons may choose to mask or not in the lobby area, and any mask requirement will apply inside the performance space.

Touch Tour, Audio Description, & Sighted Guides

Our Touch Tour is a pre-show event where patrons can hear a description of the visual elements of the production, hear from the actors about their characters, and interact with a few props. The Touch Tour will begin at 1:30pm before the 3:00pm performance.

Patrons can also reserve an Audio Description headset to wear during the performance and hear verbal descriptions of actions, costumes, scenery, and other visual elements of a performance.

Lastly, we will have trained Sighted Guides available to assist blind and low-vision patrons throughout the building.

Devices and space may be limited, so please contact our Box Office when you make your reservation.

Closed Captioning

This accessibility feature is designed to support the theatregoing experience of patrons who are d/Deaf or Hard of Hearing, or who may just prefer to read the text and sound cues in sync with a performance. Our captions are prepared beforehand by an experienced captioner and are displayed as 1-3 sentences per slide. During the performance, our captioner will scroll through the slides so patrons can read the dialogue in real time. The Captions screens are hands-free and provided by Raven free-of-charge.

Spaces are limited, so please contact our box office to make your reservation!
